about win-win words

My name is Mike Towle, and I’m the founding principal of Win-Win Words, which I launched in 2009 to provide editorial and publishing services to a variety of clients. My background includes work as a newspaper reporter and editor, magazine and website content writer, book editor and author, publisher, publishing consultant, and corporate communications professional skilled in a variety of editorial and marketing functions.

I don’t do it all alone: Win-Win associates have more than 50 years’ combined agency and corporate experience in publishing, design, media & public relations, journalism, corporate communications, marketing and distribution. My work with Win-Win Words is about connecting with clients and doing what I can do to help them complete their projects in a professional manner and to provide them solutions as needed.

Here’s a rundown of where I’ve been and what I’ve done:

  • Managing editor, executive editor and publisher for, respectively, The Summit Publishing Group in Texas, Rutledge Hill Press in Tennessee, and TowleHouse Publishing, also in Tennessee.
  • Author/ghostwriter of more than 20 books published by the likes of Harper Collins, WND Books, Triumph Books, Rutledge Hill Press, Fitting Words and Cumberland House
  • Eight years as an editor and general manager for the Nashville Tennessean
  • Six Tennessee Press Association awards for column writing
  • Army-wide Fourth Estate and Keith L. Ware awards for writing and journalism

These days I also stay active in my community, having volunteered for the likes of United Way of Sumner County, Boy Scouts of America Troop 75, Nashville Rescue Mission, Nashville Kiwanis, Gallatin Rotary, Christmas 4 Kids, and the National Alliance of Mental Illness-Davidson County, for whom I have been annual 5K race director since 2014. I am also  a former Army officer who graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. degree in American Studies/Communications. I have been married to Holley for 29 years and we have a terrific son, Andrew, who is an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University.
